Barabanki and Lakhimpur Kheri Districts Schools Closed:
In light of heavy rains and lightning, schools in Lucknow, Barabanki, and Lakhimpur Kheri have been instructed to remain closed for the day. Lakhimpur Kheri, specifically, experienced heavy downpours across eight tehsil areas. In response to these weather conditions, District Magistrate Mahendra Bahadur Singh issued an order to close all schools, ranging from pre-primary to class 12, on September 12.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s official statement regarding this decision states, “All schools from pre-primary to class 12 will remain closed today given the inclement weather conditions and weather warning of IMD in Barabanki and #LakhimpurKheri district.”
Schools in Lucknow Also Affected:
The impact of heavy rainfall extends to Lucknow, where the state government has directed the respective authorities to close all schools on September 12, 2023. This closure applies to government, non-government, aided, and private schools from pre-primary to class 12. The decision is primarily influenced by the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy rainfall.
Weather Forecast for Uttar Pradesh:
According to weather forecasts, the eastern region of Uttar Pradesh can expect heavy rains until September 14, with lighter rain continuing until September 17, 2023. The western region of the state is also likely to experience rainfall until September 17. In addition, a lightning alert has been issued for the state, which remains in effect until September 15, 2023.
Schools Closed in Noida and Greater Noida:
In a separate announcement, the District Inspector of Schools in Gautam Buddh Nagar has declared the closure of all educational institutions in Noida and Greater Noida. This decision is made in observance of the Guru Dronacharya Mela and was officially communicated by Dharmveer Singh, the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS).
