Details of the Practical Exam Schedule
In an official notification, the CGBSE outlined the plan for conducting the practical examinations for regular high school and higher secondary students. These exams are set to occur in all recognized institutions under the board’s purview within the stipulated period from January 10 to January 31.
The notice emphasized, “Necessary instructions have been communicated to all institution principals regarding the organization of practical examinations and practical work for the academic year 2024.”
Clarifications Regarding Absences and Invigilation
Regarding absenteeism during the CGBSE 10th and 12th practical exams in 2024, the board emphasized that no special opportunity would be granted to students who miss these examinations. Additionally, there will be no provision for a retest, highlighting the importance of attendance during these crucial assessments.
The board reiterated the directive for schools to conduct these exams under the supervision of external invigilators appointed by the board itself, ensuring impartial and standardized assessment procedures.
Appointment of External Examiners and Responsibilities
The CGBSE is set to appoint external examiners for overseeing the practical examinations. School heads are instructed to coordinate with these examiners promptly to establish the exam dates. In situations where an external examiner is unable to conduct the practical exam, schools must obtain written confirmation outlining the reasons for their unavailability and propose alternative arrangements.
Internal examiners at the institution level, namely subject teachers already employed within the institution, will play a crucial role in the examination process. However, the board clarified that external examiners will not be responsible for overseeing project work; instead, decisions pertaining to this aspect will be made at the institution level.
Additionally, schools have been directed to utilize leftover answer sheets from previous years for the practical examinations. In instances where there is a shortage, arrangements to acquire additional answer sheets can be made at the local level.
The announcement of these practical exam dates by the CGBSE signifies the commencement of the academic evaluation process for the academic year 2024, urging students and institutions to prepare accordingly.
