The Dalai Lama is a Buddhist monk and scholar. He has visited many countries due to which he has met the heads of many countries, presidents of countries, prime ministers and many scientists along with many big personalities. During his travels he has spoken about the welfare of Tibetans, economics, women’s rights, nonviolence, interfaith dialogue, physics, Buddhism and science, cognitive neuroscience. He has also spoken on various topics like reproductive health and sex knowledge.
Tenzin Gyatso was born on 6 July 1935 in a small village in the Taktsar region of north-eastern Tibet, into a family of farmers and horse traders. Taktsar was located in Qinghai, a Chinese province at the time of Tenzin Gyatso’s birth. At that time the chieftain of Qinghai province was Ma Lin, who was appointed by the governor Kumimang.
Tenzin Gyatso’s childhood name was Lhamon Dhoddup. He was recognized as the Dalai Lama only when he was two years old, which was recognized by the 13th Dalai Lama Thubten Gyatso in 1937 and was formally recognized as the 14th Dalai Lama. Which was publicly announced in 1939 near the city of Bumen. The installation ceremony as the Dalai Lama took place on 22 February 1940 in Lhasa. Dalai Lama is not a name in Tibet, rather it is a title given to those who attain enlightenment. In Tibet, the Dalai Lama is known as an incarnation of Lord Buddha. In this way, after the invasion of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China on 15 November 1950, on 17 November 1950, he attained his political position in full.
Keeping in mind the condition of Tibet, the Dalai Lama made a five-point plan to solve the problem peacefully, in which he initiated talks with China keeping in mind the future of Tibet peacefully. The Dalai Lama lived as a refugee in India during the Tibetan rebellion in 1959. He tried a lot to solve the problem of Tibet and China, but could not solve it and failed in his efforts, due to which he had to face the pain of exile.
His father’s name was Choekyung Sering and mother’s name was Dickie Sering. Apart from these, he has seven siblings. Four of his siblings had died before his birth. The elder sister was 18 years older than her whose name was Sering Dolma.
After being identified as the Dalai Lama at the age of three, Tenzin Gyatso was brought to a monastery in Lhasa, and was taught Buddhism at the Jorwang Temple there. After that he learned to write in a school. Then his education started according to the discipline of Buddhism, in which a fixed time was fixed for all the daily activities right from getting up in the morning to pray. After receiving the education of Buddhism, he received the degree of Lama as well as Lamparra. This is the biggest degree in Tibet. Dalai Lama considers Mahatma Gandhi and Buddha as the inspiration of his life, he sees them as his ideal.
He has received more than 60 doctorate degrees so far and has written more than 50 books. Peace talks with China were also a part of his career, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. In his speech in Washington DC in 1987, Dalai condemned the race for nuclear power and called it worrying. Everyone praised his non-violent thinking on this matter. In 1950, he was invited to assume full power. In 1963, the Dalai Lama prepared the outline of the democratic constitution in Tibet, then it was accepted in 1990 after making some improvements. In 1992, Tibet was declared democratic. He is known for his spiritual statements while visiting most of the countries of the world. Along with this, his sociable nature also attracts people towards him.

The Dalai Lama was accused by the People’s Daily of betraying Tibetan Buddhism and Chinese Buddhism. In 2008, the Dalai Lama for the first time cited the Shimla Agreement of 1914, saying that South Tibet is a part of Arunachal Pradesh, which was highly disputed.
