Kerala Presents Global Science Festival The Government of Kerala is set to host the Global Science Festival Kerala (GSFK) from January 15 to February 15, promising a captivating array of scientific insights, interactions, and talks featuring eminent personalities and institutions from the scientific world. The event aims to foster scientific curiosity and understanding among the masses through an engaging platform that includes renowned speakers, interactive sessions, and various scientific activities.

Kerala Presents Global Science Festival: A Month-Long Celebration of Science

Diverse Offerings at GSFK:

  1. Eminent Speakers: The festival will witness a public talk by Morten P Meldal, the Nobel Prize-winning chemist of 2022, along with discussions and interactions with scientists from prestigious institutions like NASA, ISRO, IISER, and IITs.
  2. Science Talks and Interactions: Recipients of the esteemed Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize will conduct enlightening talks on diverse scientific topics, while educational leaders from India and abroad will engage in discussions about geosciences and science communication.
  3. Educational Conferences: The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) will host a conference facilitating student-scientist interactions. Additionally, a technology conclave led by directors of various Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) promises insightful discussions on educational technology.

Festival Highlights and Activities:

  • Entry Details: Tickets for adults start at Rs 250 per day, while students above 10 years of age can attend for Rs 150 per day. Children under 10 years enjoy free entry.
  • Special Activities: The festival offers unique experiences such as tenting and skywatching, requiring separate fees for participants.
  • Event Overview: GSFK is a multidisciplinary platform aimed at promoting scientific exploration and understanding by integrating various artistic, scientific, and design disciplines. It emphasizes grassroots-level engagement through outreach programs, satellite events, and intriguing campaigns leading up to the grand festival.

Organizers and Collaborators:

The event is a collaborative effort between the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Kerala; Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment; and Amuseum Artscience, a private museum in Thiruvananthapuram.
