The Directorate of Education has declared a revised winter break schedule for Delhi schools, reducing the anticipated 15-day vacation to just six days for the 2023-24 academic year. As per the latest announcement, schools in Delhi will commence their winter vacation from January 1 to 6, 2024.
Initially planned for January 1 to 15, 2024, the winter vacation was adjusted due to concerns over the adverse impact of poor air quality on students. Earlier, a portion of the winter break was observed between November 9 and 18, 2023, aligning with the efforts to mitigate the impact of Delhi’s air quality on students’ health. Consequently, the remaining part of the scheduled winter vacation has been rescheduled to January 1 to 6, 2024.
In compliance with the directive from the education authorities, school administrators are instructed to disseminate this information promptly to teaching and non-teaching staff, students, and parents.
November witnessed the closure of Delhi schools due to hazardous air conditions, leading to a break between November 9 and 18, 2023. During this period, schools facilitated online classes to ensure uninterrupted academic progress despite the holidays intended as an early winter break.
This revised winter schedule aims to balance the well-being of students while maintaining educational continuity during challenging times. Students, faculty, and parents are urged to take note of the modified vacation period to adequately plan their schedules for the upcoming academic break.
