Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is set to introduce four new scholarships aimed at nurturing talented students pursuing Chemistry and Law disciplines. These scholarships, scheduled to commence from the academic session 2024-25, are a result of a generous donation amounting to ₹20 lakh by BHU alumnus Madan Mohan Kayastha and his wife, Santosh Kayastha, in memory of their parents.
Madan Mohan Kayastha, an esteemed BHU alumnus who completed his MTech in Industrial Chemistry in 1951, alongside his wife, initiated these scholarships in memory of their beloved parents. BHU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sudhir Kumar Jain, commended the remarkable dedication of BHU’s alumni to the university’s growth and development.
Founded in 1916 by freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malaviya, Banaras Hindu University has established itself as a globally renowned educational hub. Its establishment, supported by influential personalities such as Dr. Annie Besant, aimed to create a University of India. The BHU Act 1915 facilitated its establishment, comprising five institutes, 16 faculties, and 135 departments.
The introduction of these scholarships underscores BHU’s commitment to supporting academic excellence and empowering deserving students in the fields of Chemistry and Law.
